Mid-year Business Goals Check

It's safe to say most direct sellers, entrepreneurs, and business owners make yearly goals. However, it's not as common for us to check in halfway through the year to assess how things are going. In case you're not in the habit, let's walk through some simple ways you can do a mid-year business goal check to see if you're on track.

Mid-year Business Goals Check

It's time to pull out your planner, notebook, or napkin that you wrote your 2021 goals on and revisit them.  Don't worry if you haven't looked at it since January, I'm going to walk you through some tips for resetting and getting the most out of your year. If you can't find your goals or if you didn't officially make any, now is the time! You can still follow along!

Step 1: How far did you get?

Review those goals - did you make it? If your goals were SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound) you should be able to easily assess whether or not you reached your goal or how far you have left to go. For example, if your goal this year was to sell $50,000 in products to earn a free trip, you should be able to easily see how you did so far.

Step 2: Celebrate!

If you've achieved any of your yearly goals already by this midyear point - congratulations! You should take time to celebrate before coming up with new goals to recognize yourself for the hard work. I like to plan out small rewards to look forward to as I'm working toward goals. If you don't already do this, set up a reward system for yourself. It doesn't have to be big things - a pedicure, movie night, or treat are simple ways to celebrate yourself!

Step 3: What's left to do?

For any goals that you haven't yet accomplished, what's left to do? Do you need to sell $25,000 to meet that trip goal? Sit down and determine how you will accomplish it the rest of the year. Create a calendar with mini-deadlines, and work backwards to find the steps needed to reach each one.

Step 4: Add new goals.

Especially if you've easily achieved a yearly goal in a much shorter amount of time, it'll be important for you to come up with new goals. Challenge yourself to up the ante and choose goals that go outside of your comfort zone a bit. Look at the suggestions in Step 3 to determine how your new goals can be achievable.

Goal setting is a super important piece of being a business owner. Without goals and planning it's hard to know how to prioritize our work or feel motivated to keep going. Combine your company's goals and your own to keep things fresh, attainable, and exciting for you personally.
